Aunque esa bajada rápida en la autopista de la confianza que es el cinismo puede resultar una pasión, rara vez la pasión hace buenas migas con el cinismo. Al menos con el cinismo hacia la propia obra u acción. Y David Byrne, si nos dice algo -aparte de que Robert Rauschenberg era un buen amigo- es que no dejó que la vida, el destino o la contingencia, le arrebatara la pasión:

"I later became friends with Bob and his collaborators, and it was an incredible world to enter. I sensed immediately that Bob had never become cynical about his work. Even after he found success, he continued to see the world as a work of art that simply hadn’t been framed yet."
